Keerthy was born in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India, on October 17, 1992. Her father, G. Suresh Kumar, is a Malayali filmmaker, and her mother, Menaka, is a Tamil actress. Revathy Suresh is her older sibling. Keerthy attended school in Chennai, Tamil Nadu until she was in fourth grade. She went on to study at the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram, before returning to Chennai to complete her fashion design degree at the Pearl Academy. She has participated in a four-month exchange program in Scotland before doing a two-month internship in London. Despite her acting career, she has shown interest in “seriously pursuing a career in architecture.” Keerthy is also a violinist.
Keerthy acted as a child actress in a few of her father’s films, including Pilots (2000), Achaneyanenikkishtam (2001), and Kuberan (2002), as well as some television serials, in the early 2000s.
She made her acting debut in Priyadarshan’s horror film Geethaanjali, in which she played a dual role, 11 years after Kuberan. She was also studying at the time, and during her semester break, she filmed for Geethanjali. Sify said she “puts in some effort but makes only a small impact in a double role,” while Rediff said she “has a plum role but if she impresses with her acting prowess is another thing.” In 2014, Keerthy released Ring Master, which she co-starred in with Dileep and was directed by Rafi of the Rafi Mecartin duo. She played a blind child, which she described as much more difficult than her dual role in Geethanjali. The film was a critical success, with Sify dubbing it a “super hit.”
In 2015, Keerthy signed on to star in several Tamil film projects at the same time, her first projects outside of Malayalam. Her first film, opposite Vikram Prabhu, was A. L. Vijay’s romantic comedy Idhu Enna Maayam (2015), which did not do well at the box office. Because of her busy schedule in 2015, she had to drop out of films she had already begun working on, such as Krishna’s Maane Thaene Paeye and Deekay’s Kavalai Vendam, to make room for bigger projects. As a result, she worked on two films with Sivakarthikeyan in fast succession, Rajini Murugan and Remo, while also co-starring opposite Dhanush in Prabhu Solomon’s Thodari.
Ainaa Ishtam Nuvvu was supposed to be her Telugu debut. The film has been postponed since 2015, with news of a September 2020 release under the new title Janakitho Nenu. Following that, in 2016, he made his acting debut in the film Nenu Sailaja, starring Ram Pothineni. In January 2017, Keerthy starred in Bairavaa, directed by Bharathan and starring actor Vijay. In 2017, she also acted in the Tamil film Paambhu Sattai and the Telugu film Nenu Local.
Agnyaathavaasi, her Telugu debut, was released in 2018. Thaana Serndha Kootam was her first Tamil film in 2018, and it was her first time acting alongside Suriya. The film received favorable reviews and went on to become a success. She also starred in Nag Ashwin’s epic Mahanati, in which she played the late southern actress Savitri and earned critical acclaim for her role. In late 2018, she starred in three commercial films directed by AR Murugadoss: Saamy 2 with Vikram, Sandakozhi 2 with Vishal, and Sarkar with Vijay.
She made a guest appearance in the Nagarjuna-starrer Manmadhudu 2 directed by Rahul Ravindran in mid-2019. In 2020, she starred in the thriller Penguin, which was released on Amazon Prime in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the drama Miss India, which was released on Netflix.
In 2021, Keerthy starred alongside Nithiin in the Telugu film Rang De.
As of 2021, she has committed to a number of films, including the Malayalam film Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, which she will star in alongside Mohanlal and is directed by Priyadarshan, and the Telugu film Good Luck Sakhi, which she will star in alongside Mohanlal. She’s also confirmed that she’ll play one of Rajinikanth’s female leads in Siva’s Annaatthe. She will star opposite director Selvaraghavan in Saani Kaayidham, which will be his acting debut, in August 2020.
