Ravi Shankar Raju Bhupatiraju was born on 26 January 1968, popularly known by the stage name Ravi Teja, is an Indian film actor who chiefly works in Telugu cinema. He is known for his roles in action-comedy films, Ravi has come out in over fifty films and is among the highest-paid actors in the Telugu film industry.
Ravi Teja was born to Raj Gopal Raju and Rajya Lakshmi Bhupatiraju in Jaggampeta, Andhra Pradesh. His dad was a pharmacist and his mother was a homemaker. He is the eldest sibling, and Bharath and Raghu are his younger brothers who are also actors.
His education was in Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bhopal. He is eloquent in both Hindi and Telugu. Ravi finalized his schooling at N.S.M. Public School, Vijayawada. Later on, he collected his Bachelors in Arts at Siddhartha Degree College, Vijayawada. In 1988 he took off to Chennai to start his career in movies.
Ravi is married to Kalyani, and they have a daughter and a son.
In his early years working in Chennai, he had minor roles in the films like Karthavyam (1990), Chaitanya (1991) and Aaj Ka Goonda Raj (1992). Ravi came to be an assistant director, working in both television and movies. As an assistant director, he helped in several Bollywood as well as Telugu projects involving Prathihnbandh, Aaj Ka Goonda Raj, and Criminal.
In 1997, while he was still working as an assistant director, he got a chance to act in the movie Sindhooram directed by Krishna Vamsi in a corroborative role. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu.
In 2006, Teja worked with director S. S. Rajamouli for Vikramarkudu. The movie which grossed around ₹25 crores confirmed to be his highest-grossing film until then.
Ravi was signed in as brand ambassador for Lunar footwear and sandals in two states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He later upheld the liquor brand Lord & Master.
